The Tuesday night picking sessions at the barn go back 15 years ago. The first picking sessions were held at the Wilson Art Center. Then they were moved to J & J Grocery on Hornes Church Rd. for the next 4 years until that location was sold and closed down.

People continued to gather at J & J's until finally the picking sessions were moved to the Barn just a mile down the road. Picking sessions have gone on there for 10 years now, making it Eastern North Carolina's longest ongoing bluegrass picking session.
